Breast asymmetry refers to the difference in breast shape, size or nipple position. While some degree of breast asymmetry is common in most women, a great difference in appearance can cause one to become self-concious. It is best to perform any corrective surgery once puberty is completed and there is no further breast development expected.
There are several options for treating breast asymmetry. Breast implants may be used to augment one or both breasts to achieve a similar size. A mastopexy, or breast lift, may also be utilized to help even out breast size and nipple position. Another approach is a breast reduction for the larger breast. Any one of these procedures may be used in combination with another to help you achieve a more symmetrical look.
While all procedure result in breasts that are more similar in size and shape, the best approach will be determined by your own body. Every woman's body is unique, and Dr. Tjelmeland will discuss all options to help you decide on the best choice for you. |
