Labia Surgery Overview

Many women have uneven and/or prominent labia that can be problematic from both a cosmetic and functional standpoint. Redundant skin can result in irritation with exercise or sexual activity and can occasionally present problems with hygiene. Labiaplasty is a common procedure that corrects these issues and enables a woman to feel more confident and comfortable with her body.

The Labiaplasty Procedure:

Usually the procedure is performed under sedation or "twilight" anesthesia and occasionally under a light general anesthesia. Excess skin and tissue is removed, shaped, and contoured to correct the problems that each individual has.

Recovery:

Typically patients experience very little pain or discomfort which is easily controlled with pain medication. Usually patients can return to work by 3 - 5 days depending on the activity level. Sexual activity and exercise can usually resume by 3 weeks depending on the complexity of the procedure.
