Heather Smith, P.A.-C.

Heather Smith, PA-C is a licensed and board-certified physician assistant specializing in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. She plays an integral role in the scope of Dr. Tjelmeland's surgical practice, serving as his first assistant in all major surgeries and procedures. In addition, her role as a patient liaison allows her to be active in all aspects of patient care.

Heather has also trained extensively in Diode and Sciton laser use and treatment. She performs vascular laser procedures, Botox injections, and vein sclerotherapy under the supervision of Dr. Kelly Tjelmeland. Heather has full staff privileges at Seton Hospital, Brackenridge Hospital, St. David's Hospital, South Austin Hospital, and the Heart Hospital of Austin, which enables her to assist with inpatient hospital rounds.

Originally from Tulsa, OK, Heather began to pursue her career in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery by earning a Bachelor's degree in Biological Science from Oklahoma State University in 1998. While attending Oklahoma State University, Heather was very involved in Alpha Epsilon Delta (pre-medical honor society), Arts and Sciences Student Council, and her sorority, Alpha Chi Omega. Heather obtained her Master's degree in Health Sciences at the University of Oklahoma's College of Medicine Physician Associate Program in 2000. She has also earned her Physician Assistant National Certification in 2000, entitling her to use the PA-C designation.

Prior to joining Dr. Tjelmeland's practice, Heather worked with Concentra Medical Centers where she practiced Occupational Medicine/Urgent Care for Workers Compensation patients.

Heather is a fellow member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, Texas Academy of Physician Assistants, and Association of Plastic Surgery Physician Assistants.
